AWE MOMENTS!!!

Ever wondered and looked back on the memories that made you smile?? the funny moments, the reminiscence of loved ones, the moments of triumph or significant learning that life taught you in the past. What name will you give to these invaluable moments???
 I call them awe moments!!!

Everyone on this planet has his own share of awe moments.

On asking a friend what her awe moment was, she cited, it was getting married to her sweetheart , who; she knew for last thirteen years (wow!!! What a blissful life!!!)

For another friend, it was, when she cleared the competitive exams she was preparing for long, and getting her job based on that exam.

For my 8-year-old niece, it was healing wound of an injured sparrow she found on their garage, and arranging seed and water for the bird. (What a kind and sweet gesture for an eight-year-old)!!!

Well, for me, regardless of giving umpteen attempts for competitive exams (you can find my name on a golden book of records for giving maximum number of exams J (pun intended!!) though I cleared the few exams but never got something that I wanted at that point of time.

Neither did I get lucky to find that “two bodies, one soul, that’s how love goes” love.
And as a kid, lifting a small puppy would give me a scare. Holding an injured sparrow was out of question.

I pondered and pondered what could be my awe moments and on contemplating and pressing the reminiscence of the past button. I realized I too had my own portion of awe moments and as a matter of fact I had many.

Everybody has a unique experience of riding a two-wheeler for the first time, or any other vehicle for that matter. It was the year 2015; 4 years of daily commute to work made me tired. So, I decided to buy ACTIVA (an apt term for every Indian home) as I did not differ from any other hipsters.

And finally I got it, it was white in colour. I was someone who had never tried a bicycle and riding a scooty  on my own was as difficult as nailing jelly to tree, so , I needed someone who can help me to balance scooty for at least first few days .

Now the learning becomes more challenging when none other than your own sibling(who is your age and whose weight is almost double your weight ) is riding pillion for the sake of balancing scooty and giving you few tips on safe riding .

.so, we were on the middle of the road , seemed more like two drunkards, twisting the scooty, right than left and left than right , though that was funny but I wasn’t liking it one bit . At that point I started chanting in my head, I can do it! I can do it! Whoa!! Within a second I did it, my brother set handles free, now I was riding on my own, I felt exhilarated. I was seeking validation from my inner self and I got it. That moment, that happiness for the fleeting instant was my Awe Moment

And the second instance goes like this:

I was never a studious kid and hence I never felt how it feels when you achieve something as big as securing a seat in a premedical test. It was 1st August 2000. I vividly remember as it was the first day of the school after two months of summer vacation. I dragged myself out of the bed and ineptly made my way to the washroom.

. Our phone rings at 6:00 am. We were living in the era of cordless phones, then.  My dad was standing in the middle of the lobby. I heard him saying thank you!, thank you! Repeatedly to the uncle on the other side of the phone. There was a sense of pride, ecstasy and deep satisfaction in my dad’s voice, and he was beside himself with happiness. She made it!!! those were my dad’s words, my sister made it to premedical test, and she bagged 26th rank in the state.

We jumped out of joy. We were crying, hugging, smiling all the emotions came together. We surrounded our dad (like a football team surrounds its captain after defeating the highest winning team). While writing it, I am reliving those beautiful  moments. And it’s definitely the most memorable awe moment of my life.

It is said that your elder siblings have greater influence in how you shape your career and lead your life,  and that’s evidently true in my case. No matter how big or small you achieve , there are always a set of people in your life ,who are there to lift your morale or keep you grounded in case you forget your roots.

The Silent Patient (Book Review)

'I love him so totally completely, sometimes it threatens to overwhelm me. Sometimes i think ... No. I won't write about that'  Alicia Berenson, a thirty–two years old painter renowned for her work Alcestis, a love story of saddest kind. Alcestis willingly sacrifices her life for her husband, Admetus, dying in his place when no one else will.    There is a pure heart to heart connection of Alicia with Alcestis’ story. And hence she named it Alcestis.      “Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive, and will come forth later, in uglier ways  '                                                           ...

Falling In Love Again , Book Review

Falling in love again is probably the best thing that can happen to a young writer. It gives a certain spontaneity and intensity to his writing.  Falling in love again is a fusion of short, beautiful, unconventional love stories written by Ruskin bond. Those unconventional stories ring true to each of us, and many can relate to it in their lives.  It will be unfair in part of those who say they never fell in love, for they had been ignorant throughout their lives, they forget that their life had been a long love story. In the journey of life, they fall in love with the sun, the moon, flowers, books, roads, old trees, grannies and they will keep falling in love till their last breath.  The eyes have it  It is a nudge to those who turn blind eyes to the beauty of nature, chirping of a bird, hide and seek of sun and clouds, for they have too much to take in, and people with good eyesight cannot see what is right in front of them.  The subseque...

Five Books That Changed My Life

I had grown up seeing my father reading lots and lots of books and because he would read a lot, I never found him at loss for words.   He was an avid reader and a prolific writer. Not only he would read, but also he had written a good number of articles. He was a great leader; he could influence anybody. Be at the dinner table or at his office conference’s, he would win million hearts.    H e was a man of letters, extremely erudite His presence would daunt normal people. He would always egg us on reading books. As a kid, I would turn deaf ear to his persuasions for reading.  But later on, when I entered college, I found my way to the fiction and self-help section in the college library, though my father had maintained a full-fledged library which comprised almost all the genres, Issuing a book from the library would give me extra motivation owing to the timeline it would come with.  When I set out on the path of reading, I had promised myself to read at least 50...
